The opportunity to travel through out the beautiful and fascinating country of South Africa to do research, study, and teach at the University of Pretoria and the University of the Free State contributed to my personal and professional growth as a clinical social worker and pastoral theologian.
While I was there, I was able to assist a now South African friend in the publication of their book about their story of being involved locally in the the anti-apartheid movement. I maintain contact with some of my colleagues there with whom I’ve worked. I have made presentations to various community groups and published some of my research findings since returning to my home country. My life has been forever changed by my experiences as a Senior Fulbright Scholar. My sense of what it means to be a global citizen and our universal connectedness was deeply enriched by my Fulbright experience.
