Give from Your IRA

If you are 70 ½ or order, you can support the Fulbright Association through a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from your traditional IRA account AND receive tax benefits in return.
IRA owners can direct up to $100,000 each calendar year to qualifying charities, such as the Fulbright Association, from a qualified IRA.

Benefits

  • You pay no taxes on the gift. IRA QCDs are excluded from gross income for federal income tax purposes.
  • You can reduce your annual income level and avoid a higher tax bracket that might otherwise result from adding a required minimum distribution (RMD) to your income.
  • A QCD gift may help lower your Medicare premiums and decrease the amount of Social Security that is subject to tax. Please consult your financial advisor.
  • Beginning in the year you turn 72, you can use the QCD giving option to satisfy all or part of your IRA’s RMD.
  • You can make an immediate impact on advancing the mission of the Fulbright Association.
