What is Riverfest?

Riverfest has been an annual October event since 1979, with a 2-year hiatus during COVID pandemic.  This venue is one that showcases an historic port city, founded in 1725, that represents so much of what locals deem “southern culture.” Rich in history and folklore, Wilmington, North Carolina’s river district and island beaches are known for beauty, charm, Southern hospitality, and nautical legacy that spans centuries. Nestled on the southeastern coast of North Carolina between the Atlantic Ocean and the Cape Fear River, the region encompasses Wilmington, Carolina Beach, Kure Beach, and Wrightsville Beach. Visitors can experience the area’s past at historic sites, museums, and in the 230-plus block National Register Historic District. Riverfest boasts a variety of amusements: street concessions, arts and crafts vendors, antiques car display, craft breweries, kid zone, museums, one of the largest preserved historical districts in the US, manicured gardens, fireworks from the WWII battleship USS North Carolina.  We think the area will be a draw for our alumni and create an opportunity for the whole state to be involved in the FBA.

Be sure to reserve a place to stay as there will be a reception at the Embassy Suites hotel on Saturday October 8th at 3:00pm.
