Fellow Fulbrighters and Friends:

The New Hampshire Chapter of the Fulbright Association is pleased to invite you join us on a whale watch cruise.  On Thursday, July 25, we have reservations for 20 people on the 2:00pm cruise run by Granite State Whale Watch out of Rye harbor.  The cruise lasts about 4 hours, so we’ll be getting back to Rye between 6:00 and 7:00.  The New Hampshire Chapter will cover the ticket cost for up to 20 paid-up members.  Participation in our events fluctuates a lot, so it is difficult to predict how many will attend this attractive event.  If the number of members who come is less than 20, we will seek to amortize the costs of accompanying significant others (spouses or a child/grandchild).  Most likely, there will be some cost to accompanying non-members.  I will need to know well beforehand how many will come, however, in order to ensure that there is adequate room on the boat.  We currently have a reservation for 20, but if more than 20 (members and accompanying others) want to come, I will need to ensure beforehand that there is adequate space on the boat.

So here’s the deal.  We cover the costs of the first 20 paid-up members of the NH Chapter of the Fulbright Association.  To claim your spot on the cruise, please send to me at NH.Fulbright@unh.edu your name, email address, and phone number.  I must receive your request for a ticket on or before Tuesday, July 2.  If you intend to bring a spouse or significant other, please include their name and contact information as well.   If paid-up members do not exhaust the 20 tickets we already have reserved, I will seek to use the remaining tickets to subsidize the ticket cost for 1 significant other per member.  (If more than 20 paid-up members ask for tickets, I will be ecstatic and desperately seek ways to get the extra tickets and cover the extra costs.)  Once the names and number of participants has been fixed on July 2, I will notify everyone whether (and if so , how much) accompanying non-members will be charged.  Please bring a check for the amount you would owe—I can’t take plastic, and checks are more traceable than cash.  (Yeah, I know, checks are terribly retro, but they still have their uses.)

For information on the whale watch and for directions to the wharf in Rye, please visit the Granite State Whale Watch website:  https://granitestatewhalewatch.com/.  The directions to the harbor are found under ‘contact’—and a reminder that the parking is in a lot run by the State of NH, which charges $5.00/car—so car-pooling is a good idea.

I hope to welcome many of you on board.
