The Maine and New Hampshire Chapters of the Fulbright Association present: a Day in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
For several years the Maine and New Hampshire Chapters have discussed a chapter networking, story-telling, and fun event with our New Hampshire & Maine Fulbright neighbors. We are excited to announce that we will host a day-long, collaborative event in Portsmouth, New Hampshire on Thursday, July 26.
Agenda
10:45AM – Arrival at Grill 28: Pease Golf Club on the campus of Pease International Trade Port
11:00-12:15PM – Guided Bus Tour of the Trade Port with Executive Director, David Mullen. On this tour, you will learn about the international outreach, commercial exchanges, and entrepreneurship happening in the Portsmouth area and beyond.
12:15-1:10PM – Grill 28: Pease Golf Course – on the Pease Trade Port Campus. Networking and light meal fare & beverages.
1:20-4:45PM – Board Vessel for sail to the Isle of Shoals with the Isle of Shoals Steamship Company. See below for ticket information.
4:45-9:00PM – Dinner and Networking at Geno’s Chowder House featuring Dr. Ali Akhtar and Dr. Lawrence C. Reardon as a guest speakers. Dr. Akhtar is a member of the Maine Chapter, and is an Associate Professor of Religious Studies, Classical and Medieval Studies, Bates College: The Arts of Diplomacy: Commerce and Material Culture across the Indian Ocean 1602-1800. Dr. Reardon is a member of the New Hampshire Chapter, and is an Associate Professor of Political Science and Coordinator of the Asian Studies Minor, U New Hampshire: China’s Third Way: Opening China’s Coastal Economy in the 1980s.
How to Register
There will be a nominal fee for Fulbright Association members to participate, and a fee for non-members (friend, guest, spouse, etc.). Each chapter member may bring up to 2 guests. The chapters need to hear from interested individuals by May 1, 2018 to offer the Portsmouth hosts a solid headcount.
The ME or NH chapter will purchase tickets for their Fulbright Association Chapter Members in advance of the event. Guests and non- members will reserve their tickets on-line. For information about guest ticket purchases, please email your chapter’s contact (listed below) for the online link. Sail availability will be on a first come, first serve basis, so please pay attention to the deadlines and boarding time. Our spaces are reserved only until May 31st.
