Join the Oregon Chapter for: Fulbright Journey to Burma:Burma Political History and Current LandscapeFebruary 11th (Friday), 2022, 6pm – 8pm (Pacific Time)Email fulbrightoregon@gmail.com for Zoom link. Jordan Paing is a Yangon native from Burma and 2020 Fulbright scholar. He is working towards the Master of Science in Historic Preservation with an emphasis on real estate development at the University of Oregon whose work is focused on historic tax credits programs in Oregon. His research is rooted within the financial incentives of preservation, especially the financial leverages of architectural rehabilitation projects in the United States. His passion for preservation can be traced back to his undergraduate studies at West Yangon Technological University where he received the Bachelor of Architecture in 2018. He was recognized at the thesis award for his project of Revitalization of the former Currency Department Building in Yangon. Prior to his graduate studies, he worked as a project designer for Doh Eain, focusing on adaptive reuse heritage restoration and placemaking projects in Yangon. He has worked on several architectural rehabilitation projects in which he oversaw design and project management. While working for Doh Eain, he grasped the principles of community engagement, participatory design and placemaking. Jordan is also one of the founding members of the Virtual School of Architecture, Myanmar which is dedicated to the continuity of architecture education for students in Myanmar during the pandemic and political circumstances. When not working, Jordan can be found making delicious cuisine and pastry or exploring outdoor activities in the Pacific Northwest. |
