New England Contradancing in Albany on Friday, September 8, 2023 and subsequent second and fifth Fridays throughout the academic year.
See https://www.danceflurry.org/series/albany-contradance/ for information and directions, including Covid protocols such as proof of vaccination and rules on wearing masks.
When you arrive, tell the individuals at the desk that you are a visiting Fulbrighter and your entrance fee will be paid. In addition, please ask them to point out Joan and Jim Savitt and please introduce yourselves to us. Be sure to come early for the beginners’ session. It’s fine to come by yourself or with a few friends. Contradancers take a new partner for each dance throughout the evening, and anyone can dance with anyone. It’s fun! The caller for the evening teaches everyone each dance, using the term Lark for whoever is on the left and Robin for whoever is on the right. This event is suitable for ages teens and up. If you go, please do not wear any perfumes. Dress for sport: no high heels, comfortable clothes, and shoes with soft soles.
