Ann Von Briesen Lewis

Ann von Briesen Lewis is an international development consultant, with experience living and working in Asia, South America, and Africa. She has special expertise in evaluation, education, disaster preparedness and response, post-conflict transitions and international humanitarian law. She has worked for and with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), served as Executive Director of Fulbright Commissions in both Nepal and Indonesia, and directed the U.S. National Security Education Program (Boren Fellowships). She was Academic Adviser in the Overseas Training Office of the Government of Indonesia. In Swaziland, Ms. Lewis taught Sociology at the University of Botswana, Lesotho and Swaziland. As Resident in Rwanda, Ms. Lewis represented the U.S. Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance, coordinating humanitarian aid.

She holds a MA in international development and has working fluency in Spanish, French, Nepali, Bahasa Indonesia, and Portuguese. She studied in Germany in high school and studied for a college semester in Thailand. Ann and her husband, George Lewis, a retired Senior Foreign Service officer, live near Seattle, Washington.
