In this moment of uncertainty, we have a powerful opportunity to come together and champion the future of the Fulbright Program.
The Inaugural #StandforFulbright: Night of Champions – May 8, 2025
The Fulbright Association proudly hosted the inaugural #StandforFulbright: Night of Champions on Thursday, May 8, 2025, with both in-person attendance in Washington, D.C. and virtual access available. This new signature event was co-sponsored by the Fulbright Association, the National Capital Area Chapter, and Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP, and was held at Hunton’s offices in downtown D.C.
This was not just another gathering—it was a defining moment. At a time when the Fulbright Program’s future faced new challenges, the event brought together supporters of international exchange to celebrate Fulbright’s impact, defend its legacy, and ignite momentum for the road ahead.
As the Fulbright Prize transitions to a new date in Spring 2026, this year’s Night of Champions honored outstanding individuals, organizations, and institutions who have gone above and beyond to advance the Fulbright mission. The event also highlighted inspiring youth voices, showcasing the next generation of changemakers stepping forward with courage and purpose.
The event was part of the larger #StandforFulbright campaign, which called on the community to stand up and speak out—for the future of the Fulbright Program and for the wellbeing of scholars and alumni. With global engagement, academic diplomacy, and cross-cultural exchange under increasing pressure, the need for bold advocacy and visible unity proved more urgent than ever.
Proceeds from the event supported the Fulbright Association’s ongoing work:
Urgent advocacy at the national level
New alumni support programs (including the Fulbright Wellness Webinar on April 29)
Resources for local chapters and outreach initiatives
Institutional Category Recognitions
The following institutions were honored for exemplifying Fulbright’s mission and commitment to international exchange:

Support from this event helped fuel critical advocacy efforts, revitalize chapter resources, and launch new programs that benefit the Fulbright community.
Thank you to Hunton Andrews and Kurth LLP and the National Capital Area Chapter for supporting the Fulbright Association in making this event possible.
