Visualizing Turf: Interpreting cultural wars and conflicts through Street art, graffiti, and mark-making
Brandon Gellis is a digital scholar, teacher, and artist. His creative research is transdisciplinary, exploring the intersections of design, art, technology, and culture in physical and virtual spaces. His recent scholarship explores visual artifacts (i.e., Street art, graffiti, mark making, and such) of Culture Wars and conflict. He explores streets, alleys, rundown buildings, and hidden locations documenting Street art made in solidarity with those seeking change, challenging authority, and defending others. He works in parts of the Middle East, photographing and interpreting street-based visual artifacts of Arab-Israeli conflicts.
