Catherine Gunther Kodat - Incoming Board Member

Catherine Gunther Kodat is Provost and Dean of the Faculty and Professor of English at Marist College. A 2005 Fulbright lecturer in American Studies at Budapest’s Eötvös Loránd Tudományegyetem (Loránd Eötvös University) and a 2004 fellow at the Rothermere American Institute at the University of Oxford, she has published essays about 20th century U.S. literature, dance, music, and film in several journals and edited collections, including American Literary History, Representations, American Quarterly, and The Cambridge Companion to the Modernist Novel. Her study Don’t Act, Just Dance: The Metapolitics of Cold War Culture was published by Rutgers University Press in 2015; Faulknerista was published in 2022 by Louisiana State University Press. A former metro desk reporter at The Baltimore Sun, she taught English and American Studies at Hamilton College before moving into academic administration. Prior to joining Marist, she served as Provost and Dean of Faculty at Lawrence University of Wisconsin and as Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences at Lewis & Clark College.
