These portraits are a fusion of Native American faces and European clothing. The combinations of notable native figures with the accompanying European clothing (inductive of rank, wealth and correlating with period) are meant to question the idea of what IF it was not a conquest but a corporation, a sharing of knowledge, wisdom and exchange on many levels? There is no telling what could have been, only what was lost. These paintings are a de-contextualization of what might have been. Being part Inca, through this painting series, I am honoring natives of the Americas.
