My experience as a Fulbright Distinguished Teacher in Finland provided me opportunities to research Finnish education, but more importantly, it provided me a platform to promote education at the local, state, and national levels. I have used my experiences with Fulbright to speak up about education and it has opened doors and opportunities to improve education for students across the US. Because of the Fulbright program, I am now serving in Washington DC as an Einstein Distinguished Educator Fellow at the DOE who is promoting STEM education to several Federal Agencies. I am able to use the insight I gained from observing the Finnish education system to help improve systems here in the US.
I love Fulbright and I can’t thank it enough for giving me a voice in education reform!
