During my Fulbright year, I taught 4 sections of English composition in Presov University, Slovakia with terrific colleagues and talented students. I also traveled often by train within the country to Poland, Hungary, and Czech Republic to experience that part of the world and attend workshops and conferences on teaching English. The opportunities to travel, make new professional connections and experience being foreign again have informed my teaching ever since. I’m grateful for that year, a reset button in my career and what a way to celebrate the millennium!
