A Half A Century Ago – Edmond Gerald Meyer – Chile 1959

I am probably the oldest Fulbrighter still around. My Fulbright assignment was at the University of Conception, Chile in 1959 where I collaborated with two other Fulbrighters, and was asked to formulate a plan to establish departments of chemistry, physics, and biology at the university.

We were paid in pesos.

The next year, we hosted the daughter of a Chemistry professor back in Chile to live with us and attend the university where I was teaching.

It was definitely a mind expanding experience for the Meyer family of six.
