Give Back to my Birth Country – Piyavan Sukalakamala – Thailand 2013

with undergraduate students at Tourism Building

with graduate students at the main campusI was born in Thailand. After all of the education I received in the United States, I always wanted to give back to my birth country. As a Fulbright Scholar, I had an opportunity to teach at Bangkok University, Thailand during Summer 2013.

I felt fortunate to return to Thailand in this capacity as it was my first time teaching overseas and I met many international students from this program. I did not just teach them, but I also learned many things from them. In addition, working with the faculty at Bangkok University broadened my knowledge in teaching and research. Teaching students in different cultures taught me to be more patient. This experience helped open my eyes for my future teaching career.

During my time in Thailand as a Fulbright Scholar, it was an unforgettable experience. To this day, I keep a great relationship with faculty at Bangkok University. In addition, I also serve as a Fulbright Scholar liaison at my university.
