Artist Statement

Regarding India is on ongoing series of video interviews with contemporary artists living and working in India. The series was initiated through a Fulbright-Nehru Fellowship in 2011, later videos were filmed during subsequent visits to India, including a Fulbright- Nehru fellowship in 2020. Through the creative work, experiences and insights of artists, Regarding India videos illuminate aspects of Indian history, society, culture and current events. The majority of the 27 current videos have been produced, filmed and edited by Kathryn Myers. Selected videos resulted from collaborative effort with the New Delhi based cultural organization bringhomestories.com and The Ethnic Arts Foundation, an international organization dedicated to promoting the work of indigenous artists. The videos are available through an open access website, www.regardingindia.com

Kathryn Myers is a painter and Professor of Art at The University of Connecticut. She began the Regarding India series to contribute to a UConn course she developed on Indian art. She received Fulbright Fellowships to India in 2002, 2011 and 2020 and has exhibited her work and curated exhibitions in India and the United States.
