It’s time to get together! We want to know YOU! So, the Arizona Chapter of the Fulbright Association is planning a field trip to downtown Tucson to visit the Presidio Museum, The Romero House Potters, and the Tucson Visitor’s Center in the Historic Courthouse.

We will meet at the Main Gate, West Entrance to the UA Campus at 9 am (corner of Park Street and University) and walk to the streetcar stop at Main Gate Square. The streetcar will take us past TIME Market (a favorite campus hangout), through the 4th Avenue Entertainment District, and on to Congress Street in Downtown Tucson. After disembarking the streetcar at Congress and Church Streets, we will proceed several blocks north to the Historic Court House where we will view the January 8th memorial https://visitsouthernarizona.com/january-8-memorial/january-8th-memorial-photo-gallery/ and the new Tucson Visitor’s Center https://visitsouthernarizona.com/visitor-center/ . Proceeding deeper into the Arts District, we will visit Romero House Potters, an historic adobe building housing an active community pottery co-op https://romerohousepotters.org/ . While there we will be treated to a throwing demonstration by Zach Gordon, Fulbright alumnus to Turkey, now an instructor at UA in studio art. We will pass by Old Town Artisans https://oldtownartisanstucson.com/ on our way to the Presidio Museum https://tucsonpresidio.com/ for a guided tour of the facility and to learn how to make tortillas over an open fire. Lunch will be from the Five to Oh Coffee shop, in the Historic Courthouse. Following lunch we will catch the streetcar back to campus.

There is no cost for Fulbrighters. We can accommodate 20 persons and spaces will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. If you are interested in joining this field trip, or if you have questions, please email Carol Bender (bender@arizona.edu) by Sunday, October 16! You must RSVP to attend and when you do, further instructions will follow.

This event will be of interest to those new to Tucson as well as those who have lived here for years. Best of all, we will become acquainted with fellow Fulbrighters!
