On Saturday, March 25, we invite all visiting Fulbright grantees and Fulbright Association members to join us for a walking tour of the Historic Germantown neighborhood of Philadelphia.  Germantown is known as “Freedom’s Backyard” due to its close proximity to Philadelphia and for its involvement in a number of freedom movements in our nation’s history including the War for Independence and the Underground Railroad. Our tour will be led by guides from the Historic Germantown organization and will include stops at the Germantown Mennonite Meetinghouse, Johnson House, and the Concord School House.  Our tour will begin promptly at 1:00pm and we will meet at the Germantown Mennonite Meetinghouse (Address: 6133 Germantown AvenuePhiladelphia, PA 19144).  This is a walking tour and participants can expect to walk between 1-2 miles over the course of the 90 minute tour. We will end the tour with a time for coffee and conversation. Cost: There is no cost to attend if you are a visiting Fulbright grantee or an active Fulbright Association member. Getting There: The Germantown Mennonite Meeting House (Address: 6133 Germantown Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19144) and all tour stops are close to SEPTA 23 bus route and Chestnut Hill West Regional Rail Line (Tulpehocken Station).  Street parking is widely available throughout the neighborhood. Guests are asked to coordinate their own transportation to and from the tour site.  If you would like to attend, please RSVP by filling out THIS FORM.  If you have any questions about this event, please email Matt Smith at
