Celebrate Women’s History Month with a night featuring live music by an all-woman band, as well as the debut of Fulbright NY board member, Vivienne Aerts’ new album, Typuhthâng (pronunciation: Type-of-thing), which features recordings by 100 women musicians from over 40 countries. The new album is in collaboration with Original Beans Chocolate which aims to empower the female cacao farmers of Virunga State Park in DR Congo and replant the rainforest. The forum will present live music and a chocolate tasting, as well as informative components and audiovisual storytelling.
Typuhthâng features 3 sampled soundscapes made from field recordings from Virunga State Park, Congo and 6 original songs with arrangements by Vivienne, Zahili Gonzalez Zamora, Ines Velasco Montiel, Ga Young Bae, Linnea Lundgren, Camila Meza and Mariel Roberts as well as recordings by many other women musicians worldwide.
Music transcends language, shapes cultures, and unifies people. By looking at the lens of women’s history through music, this event highlights how artistic works can inspire social change and connect cultures.
