Join us for a Narrated Historical Tour of Raleigh on the Raleigh Trolley!

 1:00 PM-3:00 PM Sunday December 3, 2023

This program has been made possible by support from the Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

Please join us on Sunday, December 3rd at 1:00 PM for the Great Raleigh Trolley Adventure sponsored by the NC Chapter of the Fulbright Association. Raleigh celebrated its Bicentennial in 1992 and Dr. Candy Beal from NC State served as the city’s education consultant and wrote a book about Raleigh’s early history.  On the Great Raleigh Trolley Adventure, Dr. Beal will share stories about Raleigh from its very early years to today.  Landmarks that most people pass without a second glance have interesting tales behind them and we will hear them all.  Pardon us if we make a stop at Krispy Kreme to sample NC cooking.

Our Fulbright group will meet at the Mordecai House (accessible by public bus and also providing plenty of parking) at 1:00 PMto board the trolley for a festive two-hour look at our Capital City, led by Dr. Candy Beal.

The trolley can only hold 24 passengers, so please sign up for a space. Sorry, but children under age 8 are not allowed on this tour. If you are a current Fulbright scholar or student, or a Fulbright alumni who is a current member of the Fulbright Association, there is no cost to you for this tour. For non- members and guests, the cost is $5.00 per person, payable at the tour. Guests must also have reservations.  The time for the tour is 1:00 PM-3:00 PM.  We will assemble at the Mordecai House located in the Mordecai Square Historic Park, about one half mile north of the State Capitol building, just off Wake Forest Rd. For mapquest or GPS, the address is 1 Mimosa St. Raleigh 27614.

To make your reservation, contact:  Dr. Ruie Pritchard:   ruie_pritchard@ncsu.edu    She will create a wait list.  If you are confirmed for the tour but must cancel, PLEASE notify Dr. Pritchard so that others on the wait list may join us.  Also, please let Dr. Pritchard know if you need a ride, where you are located, and she will try to provide names of those who can provide rides. If you have a car, and can provide rides, please let Dr. Pritchard know.
