As a part of Fulbright’s mission, we hope to educate our community on the local and global issues related to human trafficking. According to the Miami-Dade State Attorney General’s website, Florida ranks #3 in the nation for human trafficking. This worldwide issue is pertinent to both alumni members, as well as to international scholars residing in South Florida for their Fulbright studies.

Our speakers and Fulbright community stand for education, awareness, and advocacy. Through this event, we can address some of the first major steps we can take to defeat the global issues surrounding human trafficking.

Speakers:

  1. Victor B. Williams is an internationally renowned and respected Human Trafficking (HT) advocate. He retired from law enforcement with over 34 years of domestic and international experience. In 2022, he launched his Quest2Freedom organization. The organization’s platform includes educating and empowering people through partnerships with community organizations and human-trafficking presentations and workshops.
  1. Dr. Eugenise Mompremier is the Former Community Outreach Head Chair for Senate 38 “Human Trafficking” and is a Presenter/Advocate for Women and Children Against Human Trafficking/Sexual Abuse.

As terrifying as the existence of Human Trafficking is, there are still many people who are not aware of it and have multiple misconceptions. To address this issue, we invited local advocates to share their firsthand experiences, debunk common myths, and shed light on how our society can take steps now to eradicate this global crime. Moreover, Miami is, regrettably, among the top cities in the U.S. grappling with this issue, making our responsibility to inform and empower our community even more essential.

The panel will be followed by networking, providing an opportunity for everyone to join this dialogue and connect. A selection of appetizers and beverages will also be provided.
