Fulbright Film Series: Outdoor Screening of
Sunny Intervals and Showers
In recognition of World Mental Health Day,
A free outdoor screening on Sunday, October 10
In recognition of World Mental Health Day, Fulbright’s Greater NY Chapter and Friends of South Oxford Park are presenting a free outdoor screening of the BBC documentary Sunny Intervals and Showers by Fulbright Film Series programmer Jonathan Goodman Levitt. A Q&A with the filmmaker will follow.
An intimate portrait of a marriage and family in crisis, Sunny Intervals charts the year following a professor and doctor’s own diagnosis with bipolar disorder — for Allan, his wife Jackie, and their three children. The film was developed by Jonathan during his Fulbright year in 1999-2000 in England. Released in 2003, reviewers called it “an indie gem,” “harrowing,” and “strangely humbling,” while Michael Rabiger (professor and author, Directing the Documentary) called it “a profound contribution…I couldn’t imagine a richer resource – other than, God forbid, living it oneself.”
