The Fulbright Association is the unified voice for alumni and supporters of the Fulbright Program. We monitor shifts in federal budget priorities and work to ensure full funding of the program by building strong relationships with key leaders in Congress, at the Department of State, and in the international community. We educate them about the impact of the Fulbright Program on American leadership, national security, local economies, international alliances, and higher education. We advocate on Capitol Hill throughout the year and during designated Fulbright Advocacy Days with the help of our members, and our local chapters lead grassroots efforts across the U.S.

We engage thousands of alumni and hundreds of institutional members through our 60 chapters nationwide. Each year, Fulbright Association chapters sponsor over 230 social, educational, and service events that connect alumni, visiting scholars, and their communities. Alumni also foster lifelong connections across our worldwide community through online networking and international travel programs. Through our national and global programs, alumni continue to pursue the Fulbright goal of mutual understanding through cultural interactions and service in areas such as sustainability and international education.

Our members share their Fulbright experiences with their local communities, and our chapters host and mentor international students and scholars in their regions. Our national conference is a provocative forum for research, cultural exchange, the performing arts, and public policy. We award the prestigious Fulbright Prize to world leaders who have contributed to international understanding, including Nelson Mandela, Colin Powell, and Bill and Melinda Gates. We build awareness among the public, media, and educators about the Fulbright Program and the critical role it plays in creating mutual understanding between nations and cultures.
