Experience Vietnam the Fulbright way! Connect with the Fulbright community in Hanoi as well as local people while you do volunteer work with schools and NGOs. Take a two-day boat ride among the karsts of Halong Bay, visit Sung Sot cave and Cua Van floating market. Explore the ancient villages of Duong Lam, visit Hao Lo Prison and Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, enjoy a water puppet show, and experience the markets and Vietnamese cooking. Learn about the culture and history, and gain insight into some of the challenges facing Vietnam today.

Arrival Day

Pick up new arrivals at airport in Hanoi, Viet Nam.

Escort to Silk Path Hotel, dinner, and evening orientation/activities, if time allows.

Walking Tour of area, along with lunch and Welcome Dinner.

Orientation, Market Tour and Vietnam Cooking Class Day

8:00 – Breakfast at Hotel

9:00 - Orientation at Hotel in morning (covering Vietnam language lessons, cultural do’s and don’ts, Staying Healthy in Hanoi and Program Specifics)

12:00 – Lunch at local restaurant

2:00 – Vietnam Cooking Lesson and Market Tour

6:00 – Dinner and Prep for following day

Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Hao Lo Prison, Site Visit and Planning/Prep Day

8:00 – Breakfast at Hotel

9:00 – Depart to visit Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum

11:30 – Lunch at local restaurant

1:00 – Visit Project Site (Friendship Village)

1:00 - Bat Trang Pottery village visit

Halong Bay Day 1

7:00- Breakfast

8:00- Depart Hotel

11:30- Arrive at Halong Bay, board the boat with welcome drinks. Check in to your cabin and set sail through the Bay while lunch is served

2:30- Visit Cua Van floating village by kayak or local rowing boat

4:00- Swimming and Snorkeling

5:00- Enjoy sunset party on the sundeck with local wine and fresh fruit

5:30- Join Cooking demonstration

7:00- Dinner

Halong Bay Day 2

7:30- Breakfast while sailing to Sung Sot cave

8:30- Drop anchor to explore Sung Sot cave (Surprising cave)

9:30- Relax and Enjoy the Ride back

10:30- Lunch is served on board

11:45- Disembark at the harbor, Halong city

4:00- Arrive back at hotel, and Dinner

2:00 – Visit Hanoi History Museum

3:30 – Return back to hotel and relax, get ready for last day of service

Bai Dinh Temple Visit Day

8:30 – Depart Hotel

10:30 – Arrive at pagoda

Spend the morning with staff exploring the 500 La Han statues, along with a 10 meter high bronze Buddha statue

12:30 – Lunch at local restaurant

1:30 – Visit Trang An – Boat trip to visit multiple caves and the rivers of Ninh Binh province

4:00 – Depart back for Hanoi

6:00 – Dinner

Departure Day

Group is escorted to the airport, and helped with check in with staff. Good byes

Final Payments: Final payments for the trip are due by November 1, 2017. Please read all the information in our registration packet for terms on cancellations, refunds, and other policies.

Membership requirements: Please also note that you must be a current member of the Fulbright Association in order to join the tour.
